More to Lose - Under 50 Category

Christina C.

Start. Stop. Start. Curse. Stop. Curse some more. Repeat.

As an on-again, off-again T-tapper for the last 6-ish years, I always find my way back to T-tapp. It's as if an alarm goes off in my body that it's time to get back to it. No other exercise program I have tried has helped me achieve the same results in the shortest period of time.

My grand plan included a bootcamp, a weekend blitz and a highly disciplined every other day workout. However, I quickly learned that I am much happier working out when I approach T-tapp as a treat, rather than a punishment. When I decided today would be a T-tapp day, it was easier for me to drown out The Doubter's voice in my head (The Doubter's favorite sayings sound a bit like this,"I don't feel like working out today. I'm too tiiiiired. I'd rather watch TV. I need new Skechers.") On those days, it was no trouble to say, well , think, "That's fine. Shut up, please. Today is a T-tapp day."

Wow.

For this Challenge, I ended up working out every third day, on average, alternating between MORE and BWO+. Since I recently started a new job and moved into a new apartment in New York City, I am also walking a mile each day during the workweek (applying SATI form, of course!).

I considered withdrawing from the Challenge because I felt like I didn't do what I'd planned and wasn't expecting much from the tape measure. I thought I was seeing some difference and one of my friends had recently "accused" me of losing some weight. Still, imagine my delight and surprise to discover I'd dropped 13 ½ inches!

I have to be honest, I did not enter the 30-Day Challenge with the goal of winning. My sights were set a bit lower—to become more consistent with my T-tapping. My sister and mother entered as well and we've all worked out separately on a completely different schedule. I am so proud of the three of us for losing a combined total of 37 inches (15 ½, 13 ½, and 8 inches respectively). There is nothing I'd like more than to sweat it out with them under the watchful and slightly torturous gaze of Teresa at a Florida retreat.

My new philosophy? Less IS more. Listen to your body. Perfect doesn't matter. Today is a T-tapp day.
