This January Jump Start was kind of a surprise for me. I sort of forgot about January being the annual time of year for weight-loss and getting into shape. My lack of interest all started in November of 2010. I felt tired, yet I could not sleep. I was gaining weight in my 'ladybug' area, but had no desire to workout. I was eating a gluten free diet, and gaining weight as if I was adding a donuts to each meal. My fingers and feet would go numb and stay cold all the time. However, the worst was my mental 'checking out' with the family and friends.
I went to a BHRT hormone specialist and left with new hope but a lot of labels. She suggested continuing the gluten free diet and issued a new Rx on my BHRT hormone. (I'm now taking testosterone! Well, just a little.) But news to me was that I had hypoglycemia which was affecting my metabolism, and low T3. Fortunately most of these labels were not new to my vocabulary. I had heard Teresa Tapp refer to these often in the T-Tapp Monthly Newsletters, her "Yes you can with T-Tapp-Instructional Seminar" video and in the book "Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes". I knew that the workout would support my hormone balance and no matter what my age would help keep the body's optimal metabolism higher. But, I was not sure how to regain so much lost ground in my fitness level. A JJS was now a needed reality, and my plan was to take it into the whole year to combat these labels and encourage others.
Now all I needed was the Jump Start to jump start me! I have never struggled with working out before. But I now have a new sympathy and heart for women who struggle with getting the fitness part of their life up and running. It was uncharted territory in my fitness history. I needed the assurance that 15 minutes a day was fine! Somedays I could barely do that. So when the JJS began I had doubts of even making it through the first week's boot-camp.
My boot-camp routine was to last six days. (I literally drug myself to the fourth day's workout.) Yet, I kept remembering how Teresa encourages us to do the boot-camp to enhance muscle memory and build the neuro-kinetic part of the body. The first week paid off in inch loss and by the end of the week I could see and feel the difference. I used the Tempo Lower Body and the Tempo Total Workout for this boot-camp.
The middle weeks went OK. I hit a real time crunch in my life. There were days when all I had time to do was the Basic Plus workout. I only rode the elliptical bike once, and I went for two walks. The final week ended with another boot-camp. But this time I used "Maxi-Max eXtreme". (Boy, if you don't own this workout then all I have to say is your missing out! Teresa is absolutely pumped and offers incredible form tips throughout the workout.) I took the last two days off and rested.
Maybe some explaining will help you understand my time crunch issues. I lost my mother-n-law the last week of January 2010. Charlotte was the best mother-n-law ever! She never pushed her views on us. She never meddled and was a constant cheerleader and support. Ted, her husband of 62 years, moved in with our family of seven the first of February 2011. (I only hope I can create a place he can truly call 'home'.) My son Scott (13) has a little Cairn Terrier named Roxy. Well, Roxy had five beautiful Cairn puppies the day after Charlotte's passing. Enough said? Finally, due to the financial economy, I took on a management position with our on-line company the middle of February. I have never been so busy in my life.
I recently listened to the book "Eat that Frog" by Brian Tracy. (This is a free download book online! A must listen!) Mark Twain actually came up with the phrase. He said, " Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day." My 'frog' right now is cooking all the foods for our home first thing in the morning. Before, I would get so mentally bogged down in the afternoon/even that I simply could not think straight. Cooking an easy meal took hours. Since the JJS I am more alert in the afternoons and can now trust my workouts to actually happen. (I've always workout in the afternoons. I am not an AM exerciser.) I forgot to mention that I started doing the "Finger and Foot" workout more often. The hand portion I do anytime I'm sitting and listening to something. It only takes a few minutes and helps cure the cold fingers!
I would be lying if I said that I was not disappointed with my total inch loss. I'm competitive! That 'lion' type personality. However, at 49 I'm comfortable with how I look. I do not want to take my health for granted. I was able to get off the expensive compounded T3. I found a natural one over the counter that seems to work. So, the health improvements I've made with this JJS is ENOUGH! I have a lot of women who come to me with questions about their health and fitness. I love to learn. I'm a searcher for research! Ladies if you find yourself in this honorable position I have one suggestion... always sell Teresa! Who would believe me? I've never coached top-models, traveled the globe nor created a medically sound and proven system for fitness! Let them see for themselves the logic in the Instructional-Seminar. So, this JJS was kind of a surprise for me! I learned that movement will heal. You can live with labels. That you don't sleep through Maxi-Max eXtreme! To Eat that Frog! And now that JJS is over, I have momentum to take my health improvements and workouts into the new year.
