I am a 67 year old wife of 47 years, mother of 2 and grandmother of 3 who was always very active, distance walking, weight training, exercising, golfing etc. until several years ago when I developed asthma because of black mold from a flood in the building where I worked. The ensuing treatments of prednisone and less activity put on more than 30 pounds and I began to experience back pain, especially sitting and walking. I could not walk, exercise or play golf without severe pain mostly on the right side.
I tried many programs for pain relief...pain management doctors, physical therapy, massage, shots in my back, stretching machines, chiropractors and even acupuncture. They gave only temporary relief at best. Finally I was referred to a neurosurgeon who through surgery removed the bone spurs on the spine that were impinging on nerves and causing the pain. My only rehabilitation was to walk, so I began distance walking again. Several months later my left hip began to give me severe pain so I could barely walk and I had a hip replacement 5 months after the back surgery.
During the hip rehabilitation therapy I began to experience the same lower back pain on the left side of my back. I was sent for more physical therapy and shots in my back plus given some strong pain relievers. I went to the neurosurgeon who after reading the MRI said it was not from spurs impinging on nerves, so surgery would not help. It must be from the hip surgery. I went back to the hip doctor with that report but he really did not think it was my hip, but my back. Finally a year later, he gave me a hip revision which confirmed it was not from the hip...more physical therapy and strong pain relievers. It was eventually suggested that I have a stimulator inserted by my spine that would prevent pain signals from reaching my brain. I was not interested in another surgery!
I tried to lose weight through various programs during this time but with the inactivity, pain and my age, it was very difficult. I was on several online weight forums where someone mentioned T-Tapp as an exercise program so I went on the web site and researched. It was not until last summer that I decided to purchase the Basic + DVD. In the first week, I had less pain. I had been in weeks of physical therapy without relief and these exercises really helped.
It was difficult to see in the DVD all I needed to do for correct form so I e-mailed T-Tapp to see if I could come there for a private lesson. Trainer Jeanne Zimet arranged a private lesson with her and later I went to her all day clinic. I did all the exercises that day and no pain! I felt wonderful! I was now sold that this was the answer for relief from the years of pain I had suffered. I was also privileged to participate in a couple of classes during some of the certifications at the last retreat although I did not attend the retreat itself.
Last fall my husband and I began to play 9 holes once a week. During this 30 day challenge, we went to Tampa and played several rounds of 18 holes and no pain! However, even with T-Tapp I have not been able to distance walk without pain. I have done mostly BWO+ as my workout for the Challenge, but had the More DVD so I looked at the Step Away segment for walking the T-Tapp way. This last week I walked with T-Tapp technique for 2 miles and no pain!! I have been very consistent T-Tapping and on off days, I still do PBS or my back will hurt some. However, it rarely hurts anymore because PBS keeps it stable.
I am so passionate about T-Tapp. I hope to win the Challenge in my category so I can come to Safety Harbor and personally thank Teresa for all her program has done to restore me. I can now continue into my senior years healthy and fit. What an awesome program! With the tremendous improvement in my back, I hope to now go for certification as a trainer so I can share it with many others. |
