Hi! I’m Kari Houser, certified T-Tapp Trainer and certified Personal Fitness Trainer. The idea that those titles would ever follow my name would have been absurd to me not that long ago.
I have been active (in the sense of at least walking ;-) for most of my adult life. I dabbled at various other fitness pursuits: national chain workouts, home weight lifting and treadmill workouts, interval walking, even challenging myself to run a couple 5Ks just to see if I could.
(Turns out I could, I did, and my “appetite” for running has now been satiated.)That definition of active served me pretty well through my 20s and 30s, and 6 pregnancies. Oh, I wasn’t in fabulous shape, but certainly passable and I allowed myself the fact that, hey, I had 6 babies, I was past 40, what did I expect? Diets were out of the question as my love for food allowed no limits or omissions. I’ve been on the straight Gluttony Diet for years with what I had felt to be liveable consequences. Though as a family, our diet is at minimum respectable and on varying occasions, even admirable, I have never cut ties with all junk. I have continued to drag my feet against the relentless and inevitable current of age which is each year more strongly reminding me I can no longer eat all that I want. Not just in terms of weight but in energy loss and overall health. Which brings me to T-Tapp.
A friend mentioned T-Tapp to me at a homeschooling picnic. I thought it sounded “cute.” I proceeded to mildly, and privately, mock this “workout” in my head while outwardly smiling and nodding politely. I was indeed very happy for her and her newfound fitness (ha) routine, whatever it was. But I never did forget that name or my friend’s enthusiasm about how much better she felt structurally and generally overall. Eventually, I humbled myself and looked at the website. Aha! Just as I thought! A gimmick, a ploy, these stories were too good to be true and after reading many of them it began to feel like T-Tapp was the cure to all life’s ills. So I bought it.
My fitness goals at this point had become more about function than vanity as my knees had been degenerating. I was having fluid drained from one or both each year since I had been about 36. I now felt not only old but foolish in that I had purchased yet another video which I would likely soon add to the sad pile of prior misguided investments. (This is the part where I join the T-Tapp faithful – skeptics beware).
Not only did I not believe this would do anything for me – 15 minutes, riiight – I decided to challenge it by eating worse and more than usual. Also, I was not at all sure I was truly doing the moves correctly. I proceeded to lose nearly 10 inches in just over 8 weeks. I began to think I was on to something. I lost 28 inches that first year. Oddly enough, that wasn’t what fully sold me – though the barrier of doubt was irrevocably broken. I ended up not having to go to the orthopedist for the first time in 5 years. I wanted to be a trainer.
I am beyond excited to be a part of Teresa’s team and cannot wait to help any and all of you interested in improving your workout form for health, wellness, and, of course, inch loss. Especially you skeptics ;-)
